Dyson has announced CleanTrace CleanTrace is a Software and Hardware update that allows Dyson Floorcare owners to visualise their cleaning paths in real-time with AR technology. The only kicker, you have to be an Apple user.
The CleanTrace hardware is a phone clamp which attaches to the vacuum wand, allowing the owner’s phone camera to see the clean path from an optimised position.
Obsessed with finding everyday pain points and making improvements, Dyson’s research shows that when it came to vacuuming, they saw significant variability in thoroughness from one person to the next. Areas are often missed, and conversely, areas can be cleaned over and over again, lacking efficiency and wasting valuable time. By visualising cleaning paths in real-time with augmented reality, the owner can gain proof of a thorough clean and can spot missed areas more easily.
Taking inspiration from the Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum cleaner, which knows where it is, where it has cleaned and where it still needs to clean, the Dyson CleanTrace brings a new level of intelligence to each clean. It gives owners the ability to see where they have and haven’t cleaned, which, combined with Dyson’s on-board particular sensing technology, gives proof that the floor is truly clean. Upon completion of a clean, owners can remove the phone from the clamp and scan the whole room to check it over. Perfect for those committed cleaners who want proof of a job well done!

- FAQ: Will the software keep record of the cleaning sessions? Can I look at them again?
- A: No, once an owner ends a cleaning session and closes the app, all data is lost. The only way to keep record of a clean is for the owner to use their native screen recording function or screenshot during, or after, their clean.
