Google announced Gemini 2.0 is out now for developers. and will be available to the rets of us next year.
The say that it’s their most capable AI model yet, designed to power a new era of intelligent and interactive experiences: the agentic era. Imagine a world where AI not only understands your requests but can also reason, plan, and take action on your behalf. That’s Google’s vision for the future and the power of Gemini 2.0.
Here’s a peek at some of the stuff unveiled.
- Gemini 2.0: The latest and most capable AI model is designed for the “agentic” era. It builds on the multimodal strengths of Gemini 1.0 (unveiled a year ago) and introduces intelligent systems that can use memory, reasoning and planning to help you get more things done in less time, on your behalf and with your supervision.
- Project Mariner: An AI agent that can perform tasks on your behalf on the web, by understanding and reasoning across a diverse range of web sources like text, code, images and forms, and then using that information via an experimental Chrome extension to complete tasks for you.
- Project Astra: A universal AI assistant that can understand the world around you. Thanks to Gemini 2.0, Astra can now use Google Search, Lens and Maps, making it a more useful everyday assistant. Astra has 10 minutes of in-session memory, so it can recall things that have happened in that time window, plus it can remember conversations it has had in the past, offering a more personalized experience.
Google believes Gemini 2.0 represents a significant leap forward in AI, with the potential to transform how we interact with technology and the world around us.
