BALL x PIT has reached a million copies sold, and publisher Devolver Digital is celebrating with the release of a content roadmap for next year. The hit brick breaker survival roguelike (that’s a heck of a description) is getting three free updates in 2026.
January 2026 will see the launch of the Regal update, followed by the Shadow update in April and the Naturalist update in July. All three updates will add new balls, evolutions, buildings, characters, and more. More details will come in the near future, but for now, here’s a teaser trailer:
BALL x PIT came out in October this year, and as the million player milestone suggests, it’s been a runaway hit. It’s essentially a combination of a brick breaker arcade game (think Arkanoid or Breakout) with Hades-esque horde survival. The “bricks” that you have to break are enemies that slowly advance down the screen, and as you destroy them and level up, you get randomised upgrades to help you shoot more balls, add different effects, and combine and evolve them.
It’s a strange concept indeed, but one that works beautifully. Here’s what Blair had to say in his review: “This is such an easy Hell Yeah! It’s such a fun game to play that becomes more and more chaotic the longer you play. Even as the screen winds up covered in bouncing balls, it continues to look and run perfectly. The only issue will be the negative impact it will have on your sleep, as it’s far too easy to do one more run. Seven more runs later, and you were meant to be in bed two hours earlier!”
BALL x PIT is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
