Action RPG Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai launches globally on September 28, Square Enix announced overnight. It’s coming to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The new game is based on the 2020 Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai anime (which Kiwis can stream on Crunchyroll), the second anime adaptation of a manga series that ran from 1989 to 1996. (The first anime aired from 1991 to 1992, and has never been officially released outside Japan.) The manga, anime series’, and game all tell the story of Dai, an orphan raised by monsters who—in true Dragon Quest style—gets caught up in a quest to defeat a resurrected Demon King.
Infinity Strash will have two main game modes. Story “delivers classic campaign progression”, retelling the story of the anime, while Temple of Recollection sends players into randomised dungeons on the hunt for exciting treasure and powerful monsters to fight. Across both modes, players can collect “Bond Memories”: accessories that power up characters and unlock scenes from the original manga.
Pre-orders are available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, with Switch pre-orders set to open at a later date. Anyone who pre-orders will receive Dai’s special outfit “Legendary Hero” and the Bond Memory “The Hero’s Tutor”. There’s also a Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes Popp’s special outfit “Legendary Mage”, Maam’s special outfits “Legendary Priest” and “Legendary Martial Artist”, and
Hyunckel’s special outfits “Legendary Swordsman” and “Legendary Warrior”.
