A collab between LEGO and Pokemon was bound to happen at some point, and now we know when “some point” is: next year. LEGO has officially announced LEGO Pokemon, with the first sets due out in 2026.
There only glimpse of the line we’ve got so far is a 14-second teaser showing a brick-built Pikachu tail, so it’s probably a safe bet that Pikachu will feature in some form. It probably would be a safe bet even without that teaser, because, y’know, it’s Pikachu. This is a long-winded way of saying there’s almost no information yet, but articles need words and I’m doing my best to find some. Pikachu aside, there’s certainly a pool of contenders to pick from.
This isn’t the first time Pokemon toys have been sold in the form of interlocking plastic bricks. Mattel has a line of Pokemon toys in its Mega construction toy brand (formerly Mega Construx, the LEGO-compatible variant of Mega Bloks). The micro-sized Nanoblocks have a wide range of Pokemon sets, too.
In other words, Pokemon are no strangers to getting bricked, but it’ll be interesting to see what LEGO—the brick toy OG—does with this collab. We’ll find out in due course, but until then, let the imagination and speculation run wild.
