Pump It Up has been a mainstay of arcade rhythm games for 25 years, but it’s been a long time since it got any sort of official home version. That all changes in June, when Pump It Up Rise launches on Steam Early Access.
Pump It Up Rise adapts the arcade version’s step-based rhythm game for keyboard or controller play, while retaining the unique five-panel design. Rise will have full gamepad support and Steam Deck compatibility. There are also plans to add support for dedicated Pump It Up controllers “to bring the full arcade experience to your home”, although there’s no further info just yet about whether this means developer Andamiro is planning to release new dance mat controllers in future.

Rise will include over 200 original songs, with more to be added after the official launch through updates and DLC. Songs confirmed so far include Beethoven Virus, Turkey March, Canon D, Last Rebirth, Chicken Wing, Winter, Mr. Larpus, Extravaganza, and Csikos Post. As with the arcade game, there’ll be a wide range of difficulty levels to cater to players of all skill levels, and different modes with different button layouts.
Andamiro is planning to have Pump It Up Rise in early access for around six months, in order to incorporate feedback from players and add new features. Early access players will also get the upcoming Remix DLC for free, as a bonus. The full version will have more songs, modes, customisation options, and a wider range of difficulties.
There’s no specific release date yet, just the June 2025 window. Andamiro will be showcasing Pump It Up Rise (and Pump It Up Phoenix, the current arcade version) at Korea’s Play X4 expo in May, so there’ll likely be more announcements then. In the meantime, if you’re curious about Pump It Up, you’ll find Phoenix in plenty of arcades across New Zealand.
