It’s Ashes time. After a solid win by Aussie in Test 1, the question is whether England will come back in force for Game 2. Well Sky is upping their 4K game on streaming, and have partnered with Samsung to give away Sky Sport Now subs with certain TV’s.

So buy a new TV, and enjoy the Summer of sport in style!

    More details:

As Sky announces the exciting launch of 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) sport coverage for customers on the new Sky Box, Pod, and streaming service Sky Sport Now, Samsung is poised to deliver the ultimate, razor-sharp viewing experience. The best seats in the house for Sky’s 4K UHD action, kicking off with The Ashes on November 21st and continuing with the Australian Open, are in front of a Samsung 4K TV.

4K UHD coverage offers four times the resolution of High Definition (HD) to New Zealand sports fans, marking a significant step forward in their immersive sports viewing.

“The introduction of 4K UHD content on Sky is an exciting moment for Kiwi sports enthusiasts, and means your TV choice truly matters,” says Shannon Watts, Group Marketing Director at Samsung NZ. “To fully appreciate the sharper detail and richer colour of this new broadcast standard, you need a TV built for speed and clarity. Our premium Samsung 4K TVs, like our QLED, OLED and The Frame models, are engineered with advanced motion technology and incredible colour accuracy, making them the best option for streaming fast-paced, native 4K sport. Viewers will see every delivery and every boundary with stunning realism.”

The True Power of 4K: Why Your TV Matters for Fast-Paced Sport

4K UHD, or Ultra High Definition, provides a massive step-up in picture quality by quadrupling the number of pixels compared to standard HD. This results in an incredibly detailed, lifelike picture. However, to truly capitalise on this clarity during high-speed action like cricket or tennis, your TV’s processor and display technology are crucial.

    • Clarity in Motion: When watching fast-moving sport in native 4K, a TV with a high refresh rate and powerful motion processing is essential. If you don’t yet have an eligible 4K TV, or one with inferior motion handling, you may see distracting blur or loss of detail in fast motion scenes, which can ruin the immersion. Samsung’s premium 4K TVs employ technology designed to maintain picture integrity even during the quickest of plays.
    • Vibrant, True-to-Life Colour: Samsung’s cutting-edge display technology ensures that the vibrant colours of the stadium, kits, and court are displayed with exceptional accuracy, leveraging the richer colour depth that comes with 4K UHD content.

Ready for the Ashes: Exclusive Sky Sport Now Offer

To celebrate the launch, Samsung is partnering with Sky to ensure fans are fully equipped to experience the excitement of the 2025–26 Ashes series – which begins its 4K broadcast with the 1st Test on November 21st.

    • Limited-Time Offer: From November 18th until December 17th, customers who buy an eligible premium Samsung 4K TV will receive a 6 or 12-month Sky Sport Now subscription for free[1].

Samsung’s commitment goes beyond simply displaying a picture; it’s about delivering the ultimate viewing experience. With premium 4K technologies like QLED, OLED, and advanced motion processing, we aim to ensure that every moment of high-speed sport is seen with stunning realism, perfect clarity, and true-to-life colour.

For New Zealand viewers, choosing a Samsung 4K TV means choosing a screen engineered to reveal the full, spectacular potential of the sharpest new broadcast standards. Don’t just watch the game—experience every detail as if you were pitchside.
