Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights out now on Switch

Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights is now available on Nintendo Switch, giving otome visual novel fans a fresh romantic comedy to get lost in.

Set in a fantasy kingdom (the titular Temirana), the game follows the “cursed” princess Cecilia, who has the power to see bright lights emitting from people and places when her life is in danger. When she attends a dueling tournament and sees five men glowing with an especially strong light—a sure sign that they’re dangerous—she doesn’t do the sensible thing and run away; instead, she decides to invite them to join her order of knights. Thing is, they’re all a bit … tragic, as the title suggests: inexperienced and uninterested in knighthood. But the princess is convinced, and comedy ensues.

Temirana is a collaboration between Otomate and Ichicolumn, with a creative team including director Ayumi Takagi (Hana Yaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku), main scenario writer Uta Amemiya (Charade Maniacs), and character designer Nitaka (Touken Ranbu). Its branching story blends political intrigue with romance, drama, and humour, unfolding across five main routes, one for each of the tragic knights. Your choices determining how the story unfolds—and, crucially, whether or not Cecilia and her chosen suitor get a fairy-tale ending.

Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights is available digitally from the Nintendo eShop for NZD $66.00. It’s also getting a physical release on January 27, with pre-orders open at Idea Factory International’s European store.
