When I checked out the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, I was sold. The flip phone craze isn’t a mere novelty, it is so damn useful. When the Oppo Find N Flip didn’t come to NZ, I was jelly, as I wanted to sample Oppo’s take on the phone. Well now, with the Oppo Find N2 Flip, we can finally taste Oppo’s flippyness in Aotearoa.
The flip phone for you?
I have always rated Oppo’s phones above the competition. They tend to pack more bang for your buck against their competition in the same price range. When it comes to power, comparing the Flip4 with the N2 Flip, they are pretty much the same. Buying either one will likely make you equally happy when it comes to using your apps and what not. The Oppo Find N2 Flip does have better cameras in it, so that is a win.
What makes it different?
As per usual, Oppo kills it with batteries. In day-to-day use I got a day’s use out of the Flip4, but she was cutting it close some days. With the Oppo Find N2 Flip, I still had a few hours of juice at the end of the day. That is especially handy if you forget to charge your phone, but still need your alarm to wake you in the morning, or if you have a night out. It wasn’t a massive difference, but it was the difference between being short and having enough battery for the day.
The other major difference is the cool mini screen on the front. The Flip4 has one, but the Oppo Find N2 Flip takes it to the next level. It is a nice long screen which makes it much more useful. This is especially so when someone is taking a photo of you, because it is the same perspective as the main screen, so you can see what the photographer sees.
No longer do you have to ask someone to take your photo, you then look at it and think shoot, I didn’t know I was doing that. No longer do you need to wait to get your phone back to see that random photo bomber popping bunny ears above your head. You can see the feed in real time, to make that snap look as good as possible.
It didn’t fix the issue of my puku appearing wide in each photo, but that’s not a technology fault.
So should you get one?
If you are keen on a flip phone, then the Oppo Find N2 Flip is an awesome option. For $120 more, you can grab the OPPO Find X5 Pro 5G which is a much beefier phone, but that doesn’t fold in half. I would lean towards the latter, but if the sales pitch on the folding phones has worked for you, then you’ll be happy with an Oppo Find N2 Flip.
