It’s February, and what does that mean? It’s time for the first main MTG set of the year. Last year kicked off with a murder mystery that people hated but I loved; well, this year is kicking off with a death race. Well it’s only a death race if you die, according to Wizards. Anyway, I have been playing with Aetherdrift, and there is a mixed bag here. Aethers? Drifts? What’s going on here? https://youtu.be/lY4EUou3Qm8 So as mentioned, Aetherdrift is a massive violent race. The race uses the Omenpaths to go through 3 different planes. These are Avishkar, Amonkhet, and…

There are so many options when it comes to keyboards that it can be easy to get choice paralysis. Well, with the introduction of Hall-effect sensors, Logitech is making a strong play to suggest you go for the Logitech G PRO X TKL RAPID Keyboard. A couple of weeks in, and it’s a dang strong contender. What’s new? https://youtu.be/nBD_z7G-Mvo Obviously, if you are thinking of dropping $350 on a new keyboard, there are serious questions to ask about what justifies the purchase. Well, straight out of the gate, we have the aforementioned Hall-effect sensor keys. But what the hell does…
I have been playing with the WiZ smart lighting for a couple of months now with their bulbs and fairy lights and loving them. So when I got the chance to flex my creativity with the WiZ Neon Flex Light, I jumped on it. What even is a Neon Flex Light Strip? This thing is dope. You have seen light strips that let you light up the back of your TV or monitors, this one is designed to be a little more prominent. This light strip you can bend into a shape to light up your wall. That’s not to…
I love a chill game where I can smash out tasks and progress. That’s what made me jump on Cuisineer, a dungeon crawler where you try to get a restaurant humming. It’s all I thought I could ask for in a game to jam on the train. For the most part, it succeeds! https://youtu.be/gpkRu4XrrCk Pom is an adventurer who returns home from a big adventure to find her parents have abandoned the restaurant to her. Don’t worry, I am not being dark; they’re alive; they buggered off for a massive holiday. Anyway, Pom, with the help of a friend, decided…
Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set for a PC launch on January 23, 2025. You can pre-order it now on Steam and Epic Games stores. Matt reviewed it on PS5 and rather liked it! https://youtu.be/9OrxXT_1CmE The PC version introduces new features and customizations to take full advantage of the platform: Lighting has been adjusted, and the game’s overall rendering of light is significantly improved. The updated areas and cutscenes present with even greater beauty and clarity than before. NVIDIA DLSS support means that frame rates can be enhanced and image quality upscaled. Since Disney Lorcana launched in Aotearoa and Australia, I have been loving it. We started four sets behind and caught up quickly. Shimmering Skies was the first set to launch here with all the purchasing options, and now we have set six Azurite Sea. So the question is whether it’s a good set and if you should pick up any of the fancy packs. What even is the Azurite Sea? https://youtu.be/3FbXbUIeZsI Honestly, I have no idea. The story is so hard to follow as there isn’t a cohesive way to consume it. The teaser shows the Lumineers and the Glimmers…
It’s almost Christmas, and you know what that means! It’s time to get that tree up, loading it up with your old decorations and those musty old blinking white fairy lights. Well, maybe it doesn’t have to be so musty this year. WiZ has some colourful smart fairy lights to bring a bit more fun to your Christmas tree, so I put them to the test! What even are the WiZ Smart Fairy Lights? It kinda says it in the name: fairy lights that are smart. They have the classic fairy light design that most Kiwis will be used to…
Since getting into TCGs in the last year, I have dabbled with the awesome Kiwi-made Flesh and Blood. For the most part, this has been using preconstructed Blitz Decks, and while this has been the best way to learn, there is still a bit of a hill to climb. Well, Legend Story Studios has tried to make it even more approachable, and this is using the new 1st Strike decks. They sent me Terra and Aurora to see how they would go! What even is a 1st Strike Blitz deck? https://youtu.be/elC-d7DQT0g In short, it is a preconstructed Blitz deck. If…

Here Illumineers set sail as part of their quest to repair The Great Illuminary. To help navigate the hazards of the Azurite Sea, are characters from Disney’s Big…
I have been using some of the old Philips Hue bulbs for a while now and have loved them. But being an older model, they rely on having the bridge plugged into my router. WiZ, owned by the same parent company, has come in with their more wallet-friendly range, and so I got to take them along with the dial Switch for a spin. The bulbs themselves WiZ Colour Smartbulbs are shockingly easy to use. Plug them in and install the app, then they are good to go. Seriously, the setup took minutes, with the longest bit being the process…
