Well, maybe it doesn’t have to be so musty this year. WiZ has some colourful smart fairy lights to bring a bit more fun to your Christmas tree, so I put them to the test! What even are the WiZ Smart Fairy Lights? It kinda says it in the name: fairy lights that are smart. They have the classic fairy light design that most Kiwis will be used to…

Since getting into TCGs in the last year, I have dabbled with the awesome Kiwi-made Flesh and Blood. For the most part, this has been using preconstructed Blitz Decks, and while this has been the best way to learn, there is still a bit of a hill to climb. Well, Legend Story Studios has tried to make it even more approachable, and this is using the new 1st Strike decks. They sent me Terra and Aurora to see how they would go! What even is a 1st Strike Blitz deck? https://youtu.be/elC-d7DQT0g In short, it is a preconstructed Blitz deck. If…

I have been using some of the old Philips Hue bulbs for a while now and have loved them. But being an older model, they rely on having the bridge plugged into my router. WiZ, owned by the same parent company, has come in with their more wallet-friendly range, and so I got to take them along with the dial Switch for a spin. The bulbs themselves WiZ Colour Smartbulbs are shockingly easy to use. Plug them in and install the app, then they are good to go. Seriously, the setup took minutes, with the longest bit being the process…

I have used and reviewed many earbuds over the years. With heaps of competitors in this space, I have constantly found myself using JBL’s earbuds for personal use. SteelSeries, famous for making amazing gaming headsets, has decided to throw their hat in the ring with the new GameBuds. The question is, is it too late for a new competitor to make up lost ground? The short answer is nope! What’s in the box? https://youtu.be/sE2iK1BxD0U Opening up the small box, there is plenty in here. The case is in there, which opens up to show the two earbuds and the USB-C…

There are so many home mesh WiFi solutions out there now that it can be tough to tell which brand to go with. To date I have been pretty happy with my TP-Link Deco units, but without supporting WiFi 6E, I have even been considering an upgrade. Well, the Eero Pro 6E, and paired with Eero Built-In, it does offer a potential way to save some cash, so I took one for a spin. What did I play with? https://youtu.be/SjHaMiIGKjo I mean, it’s a mesh solution, so I got sent a couple of units, right? Weirdly no. I was sent…

If you are new to Magic: The Gathering, you will have seen a few different kinds of sets. There are the main sets that are telling an overarching story with a bunch of cards that are fun to play. Then there are Universes Beyond sets, which are sets that aren’t part of the story but introduce cards that aren’t legal in some constructed formats but are fun side pieces that use external IP’s. Then there were core sets, which my own experience constructed of one throwback draft. Now the newest version of a core set has been released called Foundations,…

As my house has slowly become more Alexa-enabled, I have been playing with many different ways to interact with her. Whether the Echo Show is showing me who is at the front door or the Echo Spot being a super fancy clock, there are so many options now available in New Zealand. Finally, I had a chance to take the spruced-up OG, the Echo Dot, to see if that has a place in my home. Design https://youtu.be/XNA8-i_IBLM The first thing I am going to address is the design, and not because I love it. When I think of Echo Dots,…

If there is one thing I didn’t know I needed in my life, it was audio sunglasses. Well, JBL decided they were a thing with the new JBL Soundgear Audio Glasses, and now that I have experienced them, I certainly have a slot for them in my life.
