Flesh and Blood is named after Legend Story Studios desire for the game to be played in the flesh. This is why they support local game stores so much. So it’s only a wee bit poetic that after Part The Mistveil which was their attempt to break into the Japanese market, is followed up by a win from a LGS owner based in Osaka.
Flesh and Blood’s Pro Tour Amsterdam saw over 1000 players flock to the Amsterdam RAI this weekend to play at one of the largest TCG events in Europe this year and Flesh and Blood’s marquee event in the region to battle it out for their share of $200,000 USD in cash prizes at a variety of tournaments.
The weekend in Amsterdam held a Pro Tour, a Calling, a Battle Hardened and multiple scheduled events including an Ultimate Pit Fight (multiplayer), Commoner, Sealed Deck, Booster Draft, and much more.
The winner of the Pro Tour was Japan’s Shoma Yamamura, 2024 National Championship Finalist and the owner of TCG Shop Go Again – the first Flesh and Blood exclusive local game store in Japan. Shoma had an incredible run being one of only two players at the Pro Tour to play Uzuri, Switchblade, beating out the popular heroes of the current meta of Zen and Nuu from the latest Flesh and Blood set, Part the Mistveil.
With a total of 395 players in the Pro Tour, three days of Classic Constructed and Booster Draft led to a top eight on Sunday featuring players from Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, Hong and Japan. The final came down to Poland’s Bartosz Ziemba (in his second Pro Tour final) piloting Zen, Tamer of Purpose against Shoma Yamamura. In a major twist of events, Shoma managed to take out the title winning with a hero many players had discounted from the metagame and bringing glory to Osaka – all on his first trip abroad. As the winner Shoma claims the title of Pro Tour Champion, $50,000 USD, a Gold Foil Legendary Black Envelope and a Champion’s Prize Card.
Shoma wasn’t the only winner of the weekend, with former United States National Champion Charles Dunn winning the Calling with Zen, Tamer of Purpose and Alexander Vore claiming the Battle Hardened tournament playing Kano, Dracai of Aether.
Flesh and Blood’s global $1.5million USD Pro Play circuit continues with five Battle Hardeneds and a Calling in August, before the highly anticipated next set Rosetta has its world premiere in Tampa Bay September 6-8.
