I have been playing with the WiZ smart lighting for a couple of months now with their bulbs and fairy lights and loving them. So when I got the chance to flex my creativity with the WiZ Neon Flex Light, I jumped on it.
What even is a Neon Flex Light Strip?
This thing is dope. You have seen light strips that let you light up the back of your TV or monitors, this one is designed to be a little more prominent. This light strip you can bend into a shape to light up your wall.
That’s not to say this is the only use case. Maybe you have an area you want it to bend around, like circling your TV or your TV cabinet, and you want that to light up. Either way you want to use it, it’s bendy as. But the real fun is making a cool shape and lighting that up on your wall.
How easy is it to make the shapes?
The light strip is super flexible. You won’t get right angles, but you get bloody close. This means you can set it up like a Christmas tree for Christmas, a heart for Valentine’s Day, or whatever other creative shapes you may think of. The only limitation is how many holes you want to put in your wall.
The reason for this is that to mount it on your wall, you have little brackets. They come with 3M sticky tape on the back, but you will only use this to hold it in place before you screw them in. So if you want to constantly change the shapes you either need to consider bracket placement for multiple shapes, or wind up with some holes in the walls. Your best bet is to make a shape you like and stick with it.
Setting it up
Setting up for the WiZ Neon Flex is super easy! Like all the other WiZ products, you add it to the app super fast, and then you can get it shimmering in all the colours you want. Best of all is the colour variety; you can have it shining a bunch of different colours or a static one. Even better if you have a bunch of WiZ lights in your house already; it’s super easy to create themes for the room.
You just need to make sure you install it close enough to a power socket as it is wired. The good news is with a 1.5M cable, it’s unlikely you’ll struggle to get it going. Then once it’s going you can use all the WiZ smartness. If you have more than one WiZ device you can use the SpaceSense function to light up when you’re in the room. You can get it syncing up to the sounds you are playing, and has Matter and smart home compatibility. It’s a whole lot of awesome in a reasonably priced package.
Should you get one?
This is such an easy recommendation. For around $65, given the customisation options and how much light strip you get, this is fantastic value. Whether you have an area you want to light up, or you want to get creative and load your house with light-up shapes, the WiZ Neon Flex Light Strip 5m is a fantastic option.
Heaps of fun, heaps of functionality, and a shockingly reasonable price tag.
