Spider-Man and retro Resident Evil lead PlayStation Plus August 2025 additions

It’s that time of the month, when Sony announces the new additions for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classic Catalog. For August 2025, subscribers can look forward to Insomniac’s acclaimed take on Spider-Man, some Mortal Kombat, cozy farming, and some old-school Resident Evil.

    Here’s the full list:

    PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe

    • Mortal Kombat 1 (PS5)
    • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (PS5)
    • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition (PS4)
    • Sword of the Sea (PS5)
    • Earth Defence Force 6 (PS5)
    • Unicorn Overlord (PS5, PS4)
    • Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
    • Indika (PS5)
    • Harold Halibut (PS5)
    • Coral Island (PS5)

    PlayStation Plus Deluxe

    • Resident Evil 2 (PS1 classic) (PS5, PS4)
    • Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS1 classic) (PS5, PS4)

Marvel’s Spider-Man is one of the highlights here, with both the PS5 remaster and the PS4 Game of the Year edition available depending on your platform. Insomniac managed to capture Spider-Man in a way that few video games have, while also crafting one of the more enjoyable open-world blockbusters of recent memory—thanks in no small part to how good webslinging is as a traversal mechanic.

Atelier Ryza 3 and Coral Island are also worthwhile for anyone who likes cozy crafting and life sim games, and I’ve seen a lot of praise for Harold Halibut, a hand-crafted stop-motion narrative adventure. And for anyone who likes classic survival horror, the PS1 versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are a nice alternative to their respective remakes.

The Game Catalog is available for all PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers, while the Classics Catalog is exclusive to the Deluxe tier.
