If you’re totally new to Disney Lorcana, or even TCG’s in general, then it can be hard to know where to start. Do you buy some packs? What can you find and where? So many questions. Well, Lorcana has a new starter product for collectors with the new Collection Starter Set alongside a new Gift box. So should you pick them up?

What’s in the Fabled Collection Starter Set?

    Fabled Collection Starter Set

This is a fantastic little box. It comes with 4 Fabled boosters, an 80 card folio, and a Tinker Bell – Giant Fairy promo card. The folio is a smaller folder than the previous collection with 4 cards a page. If you are new to collecting cards, it is super important to keep and protect your cards in folios of some assortment. Depending on how you use and collect your cards, having a smaller one can be super handy. A lot of people use them as their trade binders as the smaller size fits in your bag better. It comes with the excellent Mickey Fabled art on the front which looks dope as hell.

Then there are the 4 Fabled boosters, which are around $44 worth of value there. Fabled is a great set, especially if you are new. You can check out our review here! And then the Tinker Bell – Giant Fairy promo card. This card was originally in the First Chapter set, and my favourite playmat has this art on it. So getting this card with the beautiful glimmer foiling made me a happy man.

At around $70 depending on the store, this is a great value pack for newbies or long-time fans that would like one of the smaller folios.

What is in the Elsa Gift Set?

The Elsa gift set is an interesting one. Like the previous Gift Set, it comes with a nice hard cardboard box, five boosters, and a promo card. The boosters aren’t the current set, but are instead from the previous few sets, which is a choice. I would have preferred the current set, or at least one booster from the current set. The promo card is Elsa – The Fifth Spirit in beautiful glimmer foil, and the hard box is also covered in the Elsa- The Fifth Spirit art.

So you have around $50 worth of boosters, a stunning hard box, and a stunning promo card. I love these styles of hard box but like before, I wish it was slightly wider so it could fit a few deck boxes in it. It also comes with some pop-out card dividers, which I didn’t think much of. Still, as a package, I love it.

Should you get these Collection Starter Set or the Elsa Gift Set?

    Lorcana Fabled

I have seen both of these for around the $60-$65 mark and at those prices, both are worthwhile. The Starter Collection, including the card folder, or Lorebook as Lorcana likes to call them, the promo card, and the Fabled packs, is easily good value for money. The Gift Set isn’t quite the same value when it comes to packs, with them being older, but you get more. For a collector, or a newbie that will need somewhere to keep cards,
