It’s almost time for the next wave of additions to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog. Sony unveiled this month’s lineup a few days ago, with the Silent Hill 2, V Rising, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Tekken 3 (PS1 classic) in the mix.

There’s plenty of horror in the mix, which seems appropriate for spooky month. Silent Hill 2 is the big draw here, but don’t overlook vampire survival game V Rising – we gave it a 9/10 in our review, with Bronwyn finding it to be a game that “will keep you coming back time and time again” thanks to its fun combat and solid base-building systems.
If you want something a bit lighter, you can’t ever go wrong with a Yakuza game, and Like a Dragon‘s oddball satire of classic JRPGs is particularly hilarious. And for the retro game enjoyers, Tekken 3 probably doesn’t need any introduction – the high point of the series’ PS1 era, and the source of many, many rivalries among friends growing up in the late ’90s.
All these games will be available on PlayStation Plus from Tuesday, 21 October – they typically land late in the evening in New Zealand time (thanks, time zones). This month’s Monthly Games (all PlayStation Plus tiers) are already available: Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon.
There was also a rumour that Tomb Raider: Anniversary would join PS Plus this month. It was announced in a recent State of Play as an upcoming game for the Classics Catalog, but with no release date, and a PS Store listing for the game went live recently with an October 21 release date, sparking the rumour. The release date on the listing has since been updated to November 18, so that’ll be one to look forward to next month.
