3:10 to Yuma has been one of those movies I have meant to watch for far too long. You know how you know something is supposed to be good, and you have every intention of watching it, but with so many good movies and TV shows coming out, you never quite get to it? Well, this has been on my backlog for over 10 years. Well, with a new release on 4K, it seemed like it was finally time to check it out. If, like me, you have waited too long to watch it, I highly recommend that you correct that now!
3:10 to Yuma follows an outlaw Ben Wade played by Russel Crowe who throws phones at people. Look, I know that’s an old reference, but it still tickles me. Anyway, Ben Wade has been leading a gang of outlaws that steal and kill where the Southern Railroad is being built, and has been a right pain in the rich fellas’ backsides. Dan Evans, played by Christian Bale, is a ranch owner who is behind on his debts. He finds himself in the location when Ben Wade is captured. The problem is they needed to get Wade onto a train to go off to Yuma jail, at 3:10 as it were. But to do so, they need to get past a lot of dangers, including Wade’s gang. Dan gets enlisted for a hefty fee to help get him there, and the movie ensues.
There are not a lot of movies I can say this about but I was properly engrossed from start to finish. The action, the drama, the pacing of the plot, the acting, all of it had me riveted. It is rare that a movie makes me not want to go to the bathroom as I don’t want to miss a second, but this one had it. Fortunately, on 4K UHD, you can pause it for toilet breaks.
Speaking of 4K UHD, this is a cracking release. The discs are loaded with heaps of special features that are well worth watching. Then, on top of that, it comes in a slick hard cover slip case with a lenticular cover. Inside there are some photo cards too, which have been given an old school look. It’s a cracking addition for a movie that deserves it.

If you haven’t seen 3:10 to Yuma yet, then this 4K release is the best way to correct that. It is definitely going to be one of those movies I return to regularly as it’s as entertaining as it is a spectacle.
