After playing with the JBL Go 4, I was seriously impressed. That little speaker wasn’t the most powerful, but given its price and what it offered, it was pretty close to a slam dunk. Well, to test it out and the Auracast function, I also took the JBL Clip 5 for a spin. https://youtu.be/VHe4Pq-Yw0M The question lingering: should you spend the extra $30 on a Clip 5 or save some coins and nab the Go 4? What is unique about the Clip 5? If you are comparing it to the Go 4, it’s a circle rather than a rectangle. But…

There is no shortage of TCGs out there leveraging existing IP. From the Final Fantasy TCG to Pokémon to the newer One Piece set, if you like it, you can probably play it. Well, Disney got into the action with Lorcana last year, and it has started releasing in Aotearoa and Australia. But if you’re keen, you better jump on the early sets fast, as they are selling out like crazy. With my TCG journey starting late last year, I was keen to check this one out, so I swung down to Bea DnD to try a beginner event. What…

Until I got into drafting, pre-releases were my favourite way to play Magic: The Gathering. Get a bunch of packs, make yourself a deck, and battle. With Modern Horizons 3 offering some pretty big cards and some big prices to boot, I was keen to see what this new set would be like. So naturally, I headed down to Bea DnD to check it out. Modern Horizons 3: A Modern Set? https://youtu.be/7AWQgFxG4iQ If you haven’t heard of Modern, it’s one of the constructed sets. Standard has about three years of legal cards; Modern is kind of the same, but has…

If you have been following my TCG journey, you will have seen that I have been checking out the Kiwi made Flesh and Blood. To try it out, I took Round the Table for a spin and loved it as a sealed product. Well, there is another beginner product that has been out for a while called Classic Battles: Rhinar vs Dorinthea, so I decided to see how that compares. What’s in Flesh and Blood Classic Battles: Rhinar vs Dorinthea? The box comes with two Blitz decks. Can you guess the heroes? That’s right, Rhinar and Dorinthea. Alongside the decks…

Over the years, I have reviewed many JBL speakers, and they continuously impress me. The opportunity to try out the 4th version of the tiny Go speaker had me intrigued, especially with a new feature to pair them together in Auracast. So what does the JBL Go 4 offer? https://youtu.be/Lp9GsbSQy8E The biggest thing that the JBL Go 4 offers is that it is tiny. Like, seriously, bloody tiny. The small little box is super light and can fit on the end of your table; slip it into your bag or pocket, and you will hardly notice it. OK, you might…

One thing I discovered with my Magic The Gathering journey is that while the game is fun, the events are where they are at. Going down to my LGS, and playing against people, that’s where the real fun of the game is. Since Flesh and Blood’s name is based on the idea of playing games in person, it only made sense that early in my journey I try out an event in person. So I headed down to Bea DnD to try out a Blitz Armory Event in person! What’s a Blitz and what’s an Armory? Blitz is a casual…

If you have been following my journey into Magic: The Gathering, you will know I have fallen in love with this TCG. It has been a journey to get up to scratch, as it’s a game with 30 years of history. Dabbling with Flesh and Blood has been fun as it has less history. But even that TCG is now heaps of sets deep, meaning there are heaps of mechanics to learn. If only there was a new TCG that was a bit easier and earlier in its life. Well, Star Wars Unlimited is brand spanking new, so I wanted…

A quirky indie roguelite – there aren’t any of those around, amirite? Well, let me tell you, after far too many hours with Dicefolk, you haven’t played one quite like this. In the best possible ways, of course. Who are the Dicefolk? https://youtu.be/MESs52960sQ The story of Dicefolk is pretty light, to be honest. Basically, you play as a character called Alea, who can control chimeras. She needs to use them to fight other chimera and beat an evil sorcerer or something. The story is light, and so after a few hours, I kind of forgot the bulk of it. But…

On this website, I have been journaling my discovery, entry into, and now love for Magic: The Gathering. It took a while to get into, but with every set, I became more and more obsessed with it. So naturally, with a Kiwi company making their own TCG, I wanted to know more. The problem, as always, is: where do you start? Well, after dabbling with the Free Ira decks you can pick up, the next place to dabble was the Round the Table box. But is it worth it and a good place to start? So what is Flesh and…
