Magic: the Gathering has been going on for 30 years, and despite being alive that whole time, I only started to dabble with it this year. Doing some poking around, I discovered there is a cool new TCG that has popped up from Aotearoa, Flesh and Blood. So I wanted to take it for a spin and see if this card game made in little New Zealand was worth checking out. What’s it like? What’s interesting is the way the game works. Instead of playing creatures to essentially protect your health, in this game, you put a hero down and…

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a lot to live up to. With Spider-Man, we were given the most fun comic game ever made, followed by Spider-Man: Miles Morales, taking what was great about Spider-Man but cutting the faff and making a tight, great game with an excellent story. So with Spider-Man 2 bringing in both Spideys in a giant main release, expectations were high, and it mostly meets them. https://youtu.be/9fVYKsEmuRo The story kicks off with Miles in class when a new physics professor comes in. It’s our old friend Spider-Man, err, I mean Mr. Parker. In the first few minutes of…

If you have followed my MTG Newbie series at all, then at this point you will know I am loving it. My favourite kind of event are sealed ones, especially ones that use the prerelease boxes. Everyone gets a bunch of packs, makes their decks and plays against each other. It’s fun. When I saw a new event called the Chaos Sealed Event, I was so damn keen to go have some chaotic fun. What is a Chaos Sealed Event? This one is the Summer of Magic Chaos Sealed Event where each player got a box containing: A draft booster…

If you are wanting to up your ergonomic game with some style, Logitech wants you to look their way with their new Wave Keys keyboard and their Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse. From first glance, there’s something special here, and after playing some more, it’s still special. Logitech Wave Keys https://youtu.be/yw3B2j0yf7o I really wish there were more ergonomic mechanical keyboards. Generally, when you want the tactile feel of mechanicals, you have the big chunky keyboards that sit far too high off the desk, so for that nice mechanical feeling, you have to be super not ergonomic. While the Wave keys aren’t…

Since starting my Magic: The Gathering journey a few months ago with the Lord of the Rings set, I have only fallen deeper and deeper into this hobby. With Wilds of Eldraine, I got knee deep into the different packs and events. This time, instead of fairy tales, we are headed to the depths of Ixalan to see mermaids, pirates, and dinosaurs! Oh, and Jeff Goldblum, of course. The art and theme First and foremost are the snazzy new cards. This one is all over the place, in the best possible ways. Going in, I knew about all the dinosaurs,…

The best part of your shiny new console is that sweet 1TB SSD. Well, until you realize that between the OS and any other data the PS5 needs to run, you wind up with about 800GB of space. Well, now you can fix that without an external hard drive sticking out of it thanks to the WD_BLACK SN850P NVMe SSD. OK, let’s take a step back. 800GB should still fit heaps of games, right? Well, Baldur’s Gate 3 is over 100GB, COD: BlOps Cold War is nearly 200GB, and NBA 2K23 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are both about 150GB.…

Oppo has done some special things since hitting the scene. From their early days of including premium features on low-end phones to now, where they have a spread of devices for each budget. I got the chance to check out the midrange OPPO Reno10 Pro to see if it was worth the $1100 price tag. Are you sure this isn’t a premium phone? https://youtu.be/cK5QHsvagg4 Seriously, there is nothing about this phone that feels mid-range. It’s so thin, it’s so light, and it’s a beast. The screen quality isn’t the highest in terms of resolution, but it is bloody high. Brightness…

Since I have been playing with the Ring cam range, I have been consistently impressed. From the doorbells, to their indoor camera, the quality and ease of use have made these easy recommendations. So, naturally, when given the chance to try out the Ring Stick Up Cam Pro to try some outdoor security, I was keen. Setting this beauty up https://youtu.be/FjYiqdCIKaM I have been consistently impressed with the Ring suite for its easy setup. Yet again, it was easy as hell with the Ring Stick Up Cam Pro. Pull it out, plug it in and then scan the QR code…

My MTG newbie series has taken me from knowing absolutely nothing about Magic: The Gathering, to knowing some stuff, but still being terrible. Yet along the way, I have been loving it. This has been in no small part due to the awesomeness that is Bea DND in Petone. The warm atmosphere, amazing staff, and the community they have fostered, makes being a newbie fun. So I decided to go along to my first actual pre-release event! What is a pre-release event? I had done a championship event using pre-release boxes, so I wasn’t totally new to this. But for…
