As rebuilding efforts continue in Maui following the wildfires earlier this year, a number of game developers and publishers have teamed for a fundraising effort by way of a big Steam sale. The Maui Strong Sale has big discounts on more than 240 games from Capcom, Devolver Digital, and many other publishers, with a share of the proceeds going to the Maui Strong Fund.
The event is organised by Honolulu-based Komodo Hawai’i, in cooperation with a number of game developers and publishers and the Hawai’i Community Foundation (HCF), as one way to support the people of Maui. Per HCF, “the Maui Strong Fund is providing financial resources to support the immediate and long-term recovery needs for the people and places affected by the devastating Maui wildfires,” and coordinating with community groups on the ground to good use. As of 8 December, it’s raised USD $166,052,190.
