Better dock
The dock for the Switch is flimsy and awkward. Something smaller, or that doesn’t require sliding the whole thing in, would be great. Admittedly, I’ve made a rod for my own back here; the case and screen protector on my Switch makes it a tight squeeze into the dock. And you’d better believe I’ve gone to my pals at Skull & Co. for an answer; the JumpGate is designed to work with my case, and is also way more portable.
I travel a lot for work, and I would love to be able to dock my Switch to a hotel room TV before I go and media at people. Portability and ease of use are what make the Switch great; let’s double down on that.
Better customisation
I like customising my tech; I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before. Every phone is tweaked, every controller perfected, every console and laptop personalised to exactly what I want. Some of the skins and stuff for the Switch are cool, but we could do more.
JoyCon and Pro skins rather than special editions would be great. Skins for the console itself would also be amazing. Wallpapers for the Home screen seem weird, but yeah even that would be great.
Better apps
Yeah, here it is; I want Netflix on Switch. I want YouTube on Switch. I want Neon and Lightbox and Twitch on my Switch.
There’s no reason this can’t all be a thing, and I can chill out in peace. This ties in with the versatility and portability; how great would it be to catch up on Netflix on a Switch during your commute, or watch your favourite streamer’s highlights while in the airport, or even watch Vine compilation after Vine compilation on YouTube before you go to sleep?
It’d be amazing. And my girlfriend would murder me. But it’d be amazing. And if it doesn’t happen this time around, I really want it next year.
Better price
Of everything I’ve mentioned here, this one seems the least likely. Switch sales are still remarkably strong, and I don’t see any real need for them to drop the price. This isn’t the 3DS. But a $500 version would be cool, even if it definitely wouldn’t have the upgrades listed above.
It’s probably a one or the other deal. Either we’ll get a better, more expensive Switch, or some kind of Switch Lite that’ll appeal to people who want a cheaper way to play. We might even get both, who knows?
Nintendo do. And they won’t tell me. But hey, I can wait.
