Naughty Dog are excited to announce The Last Of Us Part II Remastered, the definitive way to experience the acclaimed sequel originally released on the PlayStation 4 in 2020. Players also won’t have to wait long, as they can jump into Ellie and Abby’s emotional journeys on the PlayStation 5 console on January 19, 2024.
Whether you’ve already played and even platinumed The Last Of Us Part II, or have recently jumping The Last Of Us Part I on PS5 and want to continue the story, Part II Remastered will offer plenty of reasons for new and returning players to revisit a story that means so much to Naughty Dog. The campaign returns alongside technological improvements, new modes and new behind-the-scenes features that will deepen player’s understanding of Part II’s creation.
Designed to let players dig deep into both its development and mechanics, the brand-new roguelike survival mode No Return is a prime example of creating fresh experiences with The Last Of Us Part II. Including a host of playable characters, some playable for the first time in the franchise, they each come with their own traits which suit different playstyles. Players can chart their own course on each run, choosing various stealth and combat encounters which will pit them against a range of enemies, with unique twists which can add new, unexpected factors to any given encounter.
Each run in No Return will offer new chances for rewards players can earn after each encounter, how they spec their character and more. As they play, they can unlock more characters, skins, and more as they progress. The can also customize their own runs, and compete on the global leaderboard as part of a Daily Run. Naughty Dog will share more as they get closer to launch.
For those who have already played, Naughty Dog know the playable guitar was a favorite for many. This has now been given its own mode with Guitar Free Play. Allowing players to strum the strings across a host of unlockable instruments, they can also use FX pedals to modulate the performance and play as different characters in several in-game locations to customize the mood and feel of their set.
They’ve also included newly recorded director’s commentary across the campaign’s cutscenes from director Neil Druckmann, narrative lead Halley Gross, and actors Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey.
Taking advantage of the PS5’s power, The Last Of Us Part II Remastered will feature enhanced graphics, including native 4K output in Fidelity Mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, Unlocked Framerate options for TVs which support VRR, increased texture resolution, Level-of-Detail distances, shadow quality, animation sampling rate and more. All working together to bring the world of Part II’s story to life and richer and smoother detail.
Ensuring their award-winning suite of accessibility options return, they’ve added new additions such as Descriptive Audio and Speech to Vibrations, which uses the DualSense controller to indicate character speech and cadence. The unlockable Speedrun Mode, introduced in The Last Of Us Part I, will also be coming to Part II Remastered. It will also include the ability to unlock bonus skins for Ellie, Abby and their weapons. Photo Mode will also include some of the features from Part I, like dynamic lighting, Frame Forward, and Gaze Direction, as well as new frame and logo options.
