The Xbox Design Lab has a new set of faceplate designs to choose from when crafting your custom controller: the Vapor series. These new shells feature misty swirl pattern that’s unique to each controller, with six colour options: Electric Vapor, Nocturnal Vapor, Fire Vapor, Stormcloud Vapor, Cyber Vapor, and Dream Vapor.
From Xbox Wire: “The Vapor series with Xbox Design Lab brings some of the most unique controller designs available for your customization, offering six top case options with swirling color patterns. If green is your thing, the Electric Vapor top case merges the bold Electric Volt and the iconic Velocity Green, while the Nocturnal Vapor top case draws you in with its Dark Green and Grey swirl. Feel the heat with the Fire Vapor top case, featuring a fiery red and orange swirl, or opt for the cool and collected Stormcloud Vapor, with a sleek blue swirl design. If pink and purple are your power colors, look no further than the Cyber Vapor top case, showcasing a lively pink and purple swirl, or enter in the dreamy hues of the Dream Vapor top case with its soft pink and soft purple swirl.”
With Xbox Design Lab, users can design their own custom Xbox controller by choosing from a range of different colours for each part, with optional upgrades like rubberised grips and a personalised engraving. The Vapor series joins a range of premium patterns available for the main body, alongside camo, gradient, and Pride print options. The cost varies depending on chosen parts, but starts at a $119.95 base price.
Alongside the Vapor series, Xbox also unveiled the Xbox Wireless Controller – Dream Vapor Special Edition, which combines the Dream Vapor shell with soft pink thumbsticks, bumpers, triggers, and D-pad. It’s also got some unique features that you can’t get with a Design Lab build: purple rubberised grips, soft-pink ABXY buttons with purple accents, and an exclusive Dynamic Background for the Xbox X|S home screen. The Dream Vapor Special Edition is available to pre-order from select retailers now, ahead of a 6 February release, for $119.95 ERP.
