It’s finally here: an official first look at Grant Theft Auto VI. Rockstar released the first trailer today, offering a glimpse of what players can look forward to in this return to Vice City and teasing a Bonnie and Clyde-style story of love and crime. It also confirms a 2025 release window for the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Grand Theft Auto VI is described as “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet”, taking players beyond the borders of Vice City into the surrounding state of Leonida. You can get a little taste of Rockstar’s satirical riff on Florida in the trailer, complete with hovercrafts on the bayou and an alligator dropping in on a convenience store.
“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
Rockstar confirmed last year that Grand Theft Auto VI was in development, following years of rumours, speculation, and leaks. That trend continued with this trailer, too – it was due to be published tomorrow, but Rockstar lifted the curtain early after it got leaked ahead of schedule. It’s nice to finally have an official reveal, though, and 2025 isn’t that far away… right?
