We put the LUSH x Super Mario Bros range to the test

LUSH has done a promotional line with Super Mario Bros. to celebrate the upcoming movie. I got the chance to take some of these products for a spin, and I must say, they are well worth a look.

Question Block: 2 in 1 Bath Bomb

One of the stars of the whole campaign are the Question Block bath bombs. These are big bath bombs that will change your bath a random colour that lines up with something you find in the games. Inside the bath bomb is a bar of soap that is shaped to fit that item. So, for example, you can pull the mushrooms, etc. Mine turned the bath yellow very quickly and gave me a coin soap, which is an awesome honey soap.

A quick warning: your 2-year-old might freak out when they are exposed to their bath changing colour quickly for the first time. Fortunately, my 9-year-old loved it, and our bathroom has never smelled so great.

An interesting note, you can choose which one you want, or make it random. To be honest, it was fun having no idea until the block plunged into the water. But your call.

    Gold Coin Soap

Alongside the gold coin soap I got in the bath bomb, I took the actual gold coin soap that you can buy separately for a spin. I mean, there isn’t too much more to add on top of what I mentioned before. It smells like honey and is awesome as hell. The mould they have used is really good too, as it really looks like the Mario gold coins.

    Luigi Shower Gel

One thing I was trying to suss out was how they were going to make these things appropriately themed. It turns out it is the colour, and the scents match the colour. Mario’s is cola-scented, while Luigi’s is apple-scented. The shower gel I got was Luigi’s, and I must say, watching my kids use a shower gel that is that shade of green feels so wrong. The good news is they smelt bloody awesome afterwards. As cynical as I was, they kind of nailed the theme.

    Bowser Shower Jelly

I have never used shower jelly before, so I was very curious here. You can get a Princess Peach one or a Bowser one. The Bowser has a cinnamon scent, which smells amazing. The jelly comes in a pot with one whole jelly thing inside. You pull it out, lather up with it, and pop it back in the case for future use. It was so weird at first, but I was digging it by the end of my first shower.

The only issue here is that if you don’t eat breakfast first thing in the morning but do shower, you are going to be hungry after using the Bowser Shower Jelly.
